Are children obliged to do housechores for their parents?
It is normal; yes it is normal for every child in the family to have a work in the house. There is a particular girl child that is delegated to cooking and there is another that washes the dishes. Some other chores been delegated to a girl includes cleaning the tables, always keeping the kitchen tidy, arranging the room, going to the market, to mention a few.
For the boys, they sweep and clean the parlor, fetch water, put on the generator at night, wash the car, and arrange their room.
So, I observed that most children begin to complain when they ask them to do work. Most times, when they are annoyed they just decide not to do any chore in the house so that their parents may feel bad.
The truth is – YES! You are supposed to do chores in the house for your parent and there shouldn’t be any day whereby out of annoyance you refuse to tidy the house. It is wrong and I do not expect you to do that. In fact, there is happiness in seeing that things are clean in your house and that you are supporting your parents.
Getting involved in chores makes you stronger. When I was quite younger, I usually say Kai! Work is killing me in this house o, but, that’s actually wrong because “Hardwork can never kill you”. I do a lot of chores in my house, and as you can see in the picture I am washing plates; that’s the particular thing I do every morning before going to school or leaving the house to engage in any other activity. Meanwhile, during the weekends I wash cloths coupled with other chores.
So, I urge you all to help your parents with house chores.
