Meet Miss Ezelue – a civil servant in Nigeria with a good job attitude

Somtochukwu

This young lady is an assistant secretary (someone who attends to people when they come into the office for enquiries, or they need to see the Head of Department (HOD) of a particular course) at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University. The way she has attended to me consequently for close to 5 times, made me attest to the fact that she does her job well.

Well, I thought I was the only person that noticed this marvelous character, until one afternoon when I went to that same office for like the third time. I was standing on the passage of the office when I overheard two women talking about this same lady. This was exactly what they were saying to each other in Igbo (Nne eh! Secretary nke a nwe ezigbo agwa, ogburo  taa ka m choputa ya maka na m abiabugo ebe a and o otu osi eme – the lady di good!) ; which translates to English as “Friend, this secretary has a very good character, and it is not today I found out because I have been here some time ago and this is exactly how she behaves – the lady is good”.

Well, I couldn’t do much than tracing back to the exact which I met her so as to encourage her. The little interview with her aims at inspiring other civil servants, and private workers in emulating the good ways. This kind of civil servant are 100 in a million and I would keep on believing that someday she would be promoted to a higher position where should will be able to create a better impact in the attitude of civil servants in Nigeria – because she is worth it. Read what she has to say;

Ezelue Immaculate is a christian who hails from Anambra State, with the little interview I had with her, she disclosed some of the principles she exhibits towards having a good job attitude.

Who influenced you in having a good character?

God has taught me a lot – through his message, my parents also played a role in sharpening my character, and finally my pastor (Pastor Enoch Sangodare)

Reason you attend well to people who come into your office

It is my job and I am being paid to do this, I try to put everyone in my shoes, I treat them the way I want to be treated and that’s why I try to attend to everyone with happiness and respect. But, I don’t do good, for only God does good, but I always beg God to help me to pattern my life after Christ.

Your advice to other workers

To totally surrender their all to Christ.

PERSONAL ADVICE

I really believe that  there is no such thing as a “Self-made” man. We are made up of thousands of others. Everyone who has ever done a kind deed for us, or spoken one word of encouragement to us, has entered into the make –up of our character and our thoughts, as well as our success – George Adams. We should all try to learn from her.
