Letter to Nigeria

Poem title : A letter to Nigeria

Nigeria, rich in culture and diversity
A people known for survival mentality.
Our tale was heard from afar,
We shined our light like a star.

Division came and told us lies
We went on rampage like fire flies.
Preferred war to peace
Enjoyed the bullet more than a good night kiss.

We’ve spent too much time in this dark night
Our morning will come, let us unite.

Some lies guised as religion, some as tribe
Vibrating into our heart a negative vibe.
Hatred took over our will
But would God kill?

Divided Nigeria is on a free fall
The blame belonging to we all.
Our blood tanks fill up and overflow,
Blood filled bizarre beasts belching below.

We’ve spent too much time in this dark night
Our morning will come, let us unite.

Oh Nigeria that laughs to the jokes of injustice
How are we at ease?
Anti-Robbinhoods with no morals to teach
Robbing the poor to pay the very rich.

Alas, armed men in black storm the highway
Turn not, legal men in black in that other way.
Both collect the money
Only one is guilty.

Even the blind see what we fail to notice
Let’s cast out pretense and bring in justice.

The Rich get away with everything
The poor punished for nothing.
Insincerity is bold enough to shout
Honesty is weary and worn out.

Arise Nigeria to the calls of justice
May the boast of your lawbreakers cease.
Stretch forth your sword to kill
Kill those elements of partiality that rises at will.

Even the blind see what we fail to notice
Let’s cast out pretense and bring in justice.
