Public speaking : a gift or a Perfect-through-practice?

Public Speaking

Young people may look at public speaking as an act that is extra-ordinary. Or sometimes, a Public speaker is seen as more knowledgeable than others who haven’t attempted to speak passionately to a group of people.
In my view, I classify a public speaker as someone who has the ability to communicate his personal opinions to others. To lay more emphasis, a public speaker is one who, if told to speak about a particular topic, limits it to his own understanding.

For instance, if I am asked to speak about “Beauty”, I am going to come from my perspective of beauty and what I think it truly is, the advantages of beauty and of course I will try to limit it to the understanding of my NATURAL program .

There have been a lot of public speakers ranging from Jesus Christ and his Disciples to Ben Murray Bruce, to Brain Tracy (a motivational writer, who speaks publicly to pass down the knowledge of his book), and probably to you, etc

Now, talking about if a person is naturally born with the ability to be a Public Speaker or if it is learned through practice, here is what I have to say;

Public speaking is not a gift, rather it as an act that can be triggered through where one finds him/herself. Even most great public speakers still do the Perfect-through-practice method as they always want to improve.

You need to have this understanding that No one is born a genius – they became a genius because they were eager and some factors such as Parental influence contributed to what they are. This takes me back to why I always emphasize on the reason parents should spend time teaching their children. Check out young people who are doing well – they wouldn’t do that much if their Father or Mother didn’t play an initial effective role in their life.

When I was much younger, my dad gave me a notebook and said I should begin writing a book. Honestly, I was barely in my Junior Secondary School and I had no idea what it means to put down my ideas for others to understand. But, he coached me through it, and just with that consciousness given to me, years after, it reignited and I find myself able to write and improve – children become most of what their parents create of them.

Some of the characteristics I noticed about people who speak publicly is that they have a high level of self- esteem and confidence, they aren’t shy people and they always want to communicate.

Finally, it boils down to you.  In any endeavour in life, you need to have a burning desire to acquire knowledge. In the bible, the book of Proverbs chapter 18 vs 15 clearly states that “Intelligent people are always eager and ready to learn”. So, you need to surround yourself with positive people and take grasp of every little opportunity that comes as the day passes.

Stay Positive
