South African Music is at it’s Peak and Highest in Africa

With the likes of the Cultural genres (Kwaito, Gqom & Afro House) and unique dance style South Africa have proven to export African Culture to the World

According to Oxford Coincised DictionaryMusic is defined thus; vocal or instrumental sounds (or both) combined in such a way as to produce beauty of form, harmony, and expression of emotion.

Genres Of Music: There are various genres of music. The popular ones are Hip hop, Jazz, Rock, Pop, Rnb, Electronic, Blues, Raggae, Gospel, Classical and many more that are yet to be created. Trap music is the latest genre of music brought by Desiigner, Future, Young Thug, and some other American artist. Currently Trap music is in competition with Hip hop and could take over music in years to come; but that’s by the way. Let’s move back to South African Music in the next paragraph.

South African music scene includes both popular (jive) and folk forms. Pop styles are based on four major sources, Zulu isicathamiya singing and harmonic mbaqanga according to Wikipedia. Trending genre of music in SA are the likes of Hip hop, Rnb, G Qom, Kwaito & Afro House. How well you acertain the genre depends on the beat and it’s rhythm. Examples of popular South African Hip hop artists are Cassper Nyovest, Nasty C, Emtee, A-Reece, AKA and more. South African has a unique musical culture for all genres and proud of them.

Gradually they are taking over African music in terms of music uniqueness, Dance moves, Beat production and lyrical flow. Take for example, the Afro House duo Mafikizolo. Every songs they drop are very unique and interesting. Promoting & taking South African culture to the world. Currently, any afro house mix dropped by this duo is always a hit. Take a listen to Love Potion by them and feel good lyrical & rhythmic pattern.

Now, what you have been waiting for; hip hop genre. Smiles… It might amaze you also that South Africans have the major rappers doing real hip hop in Africa. As they have taken over from Nigeria since two years ago. The only concentrated hip hop artist in Nigeria now are the likes of MI, VectorYung6ix, Ycee, Boogie, while the likes of Olamide, Reminisce, Lil Kesh, Phyno, Ice Prince, CDQ are doing more of Afro Pop & party like (DanceHall) genre of music. But when you listen to rappers like AKA, Cassper Nyovest, Emtee, A-Reece, pH, Blaklez and even other female rappers like Sho Madjozi, Nadia Nakai, MegMafia; (you could check their MTV Base #SeeHer Freestyle Session) they all give the true definition of hip hop. While we have only commercial artists in Nigeria and other part of Africa, South Africa have various artist that are masterminded in every genre of music and they stick to it strictly. Thus South African Music is the best in Africa.
