The shape and size of the Earth
Until recently, people thought that the earth was as flat as a table. But, it has been proved beyond reasonable doubt that the earth is spherical in shape. It is slightly flattened at the poles to give a nearly spherical shape hence the earths shape is described as a “Geoid” meaning the earths’ shape.
The size of the earth is about 443 million square kilometres hence it is the fifth largest planet in the solar system.

- Equatorial circumference —– 40,085km
- Equatorial diameter —–12, 762km
- Polar Circumference —–39,955km
- Polar diameter —–12,722km
