Job Summary

To ensure effectiveness in undertaking the full range of LV to HV cable jointing activities in accordance with approved jointing manuals for appropriate LV and HV cables i.e. underground pipes, overhead and trenches systems.

Job Description/Requirements

Job Responsibilities:

• Carry out jointing and termination of power cables both in 33kv and 11kv.
• Carry out work on faulty cables in switchgear incomer and outgoing of both 33kv and 11kv.
• Carry out work on underground cables like: Straight through joint, Transition joint, Trifurcating joint and Tee joint.
• Participate in laying of power cable in cable trench within the substations and also feeder’s route.
• Carrying out breakdown maintenance on termination of indoor and outdoor 33kv/11kv on Interconnector power cable and Up riser cable within the switchyards.
• Carry out breakdown maintenance on skipper panel power cable and working on the box like such as (a) retermination of the power cables (b)Decarbonization of VT’s, CT’s and cable’s by using of electro clean (c) De moisturizing of the VT’s, Cables and CT’s by preheating:
• Carry out the installation of AMI VT’s panel power cables to 11kv incomer breakers.
• Carry out all work in accordance with the company’s standards, policies and procedures.
• Adhere to HSE policy and issue safety instructions in performing the assigned task.
• Perform any other duty as requested by the Head Department, Team Leader and Team Member of the department.
• Carry out Insulation of cable joint and termination according to the specification or code of practice using heat shrink tubing or cold MIX compound.
• Conduct testing, locate and diagnose cable fault, maintain and repair cables.
• Prepare different types of cable with different cable sheathings systems for the jointing process.
• Correctly use and maintain the approved tools of the business including power tools, test equipment etc.
• Identify different types of cables and different cores and pairs for power and pilot cable.
• Join Copper or aluminium conductors cables using soking,
• mechanical or compression tech.

Job Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 – 4 years experience.
• SSCE/NABTEB/OND
• Relevant certification related to the job is an advantage
