Job Summary

The job holder will be responsible for providing therapy and individual skills training in a school or community-based setting. Developing therapeutic relationships, teaching skills and supporting clients as they practice skills. Establishing personal recovery goals, rehabilitative goals, and objectives with each client. Preparing individualised documentation for each session. Coordinating services with school staff and families/guardians of clients.

Job Description/Requirements

Key Areas of Responsibilities: 

• Work with the Programme Coordinator to ensure the smooth day‐to‐day running of the intervention room.  
• Ensure TLPCentre philosophy is practised and enhanced at all times.  
• Direct and guide the clients to ensure they are learning and applying the knowledge.
• Promote the welfare of the children in your care.  
• Act as a role model for the Centre with parents and other external customers.
• Keep the Programme Coordinator informed of significant and unusual issues as they arise.

Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Operational Responsibilities:

• Working closely with the Programme Coordinator on all issues relating to the environment and clients. 
• Delivering direct one-on-one teaching and continuous assessments to clients.
• Responsible for the smooth running of your room through the structured timetable.
• Ensuring the general care of the children in your care and the centre at all times. 
• Working with the Programme Coordinator to develop and maintain the Individual Educational Plan, utilising the prescribed scheme with themed weeks, achieving annual programmes on time,  organising outings. 
• Preparing and delivering all required reports daily, weekly and quarterly. 
• Ensuring that the Centre programmes are followed on a day‐to‐day basis. These will include mealtime, circle time, arts & craft, songs, and other in-curricular activities. 
• Ensuring general child stimulation using all equipment at your disposal and keeping the levels proportionate. 
• Ensuring that all policies and procedures are followed, and all relevant forms, from and for parents,  are completed and collected daily. For example medical administration forms, daily report sheets,  incident reports etc. 
• Escalating queries from parents to Programme Coordinator 
• Escalating issues to the Programme Coordinator in a timely manner. 
• Respecting the rights of the children their parents. 
• Ensuring that the environment is child-led and child-focused. 
• Conducting general cleaning duties of room and ensuring it is safe for the children.
• Maintaining the materials and creating appropriate ones. 
• Willingness to work with every client when presented with them.
• Be an Ambassador for TLPCentre. 

2. Staff Responsibilities:

• Ensuring a good level of communication with all staff in general. 
• Working as part of a team, fostering a good relationship with your colleagues. 
• Supervising and directing attached junior staff. 

Person Specification:

Educational Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s Degree in any clinical courses

Relevant Experience: 

• Minimum of 1 year experience working as a Therapist within a Government registered and recognised Special Needs setting. 
• Awareness of child psychology and child’s mental development. 
• Ability to plan ahead and keep the intervention environment to the required standard always Knowledge of childcare and the required Health & Safety and Policy & Procedures standards in a Special Needs setting. 
• First Aid certified.

Key Competences:

Knowledge: 

• Knowledge of ABA philosophy and Special needs.

Skills:

• Good organisational and communication skills. 
• Possess basic computer skills. 
• Initiative and ability to cope under pressure.
