Bianca Ojukwu Visits ‘the Land God Made In Anger’ At Skeleton Coast
The former Ambassador of Nigeria to Ghana and Spain and Permanent Representative United Nations World Tourism Organisation Bianca Ojukwu paid a visit to this South Atlantic Coast location infamously known as ‘the Land God made in Anger’ or ‘the Gates Of Hell’.

TGIF… HANGIN‘ OUT AT HENTIES BAY, CAPE CROSS, SKELETON COAST.
In 1486, the first European to set foot on the coast of South West Africa, Diego Cáo, erected a cross in honour of King John 1 of Portugal at the site now known as Cape Cross. This place, home to one of the largest colonies of Cape fur seals in the world, is a small headland in the South Atlantic, in the Skeleton Coast notoriously nicknamed ‘The Land God made in Anger’ and ‘The gates of hell’.
The Skeleton Coast is a desolate stretch of desert running right to the sea and one of the most treacherous coastlines in the world due to strong cross currents and dense fogs which spell disaster for any vessel that gets caught up in the gale force winds and sea fogs which reduce visibility to virtually Nil. This has been responsible for almost a thousand shipwrecks along the coast.
It’s a beautifully sunny and windy day at this mesmerizing coast.
