Some of the functions are;
1. Large Purchases: By buying goods in large quantity, the wholesaler helps the manufacturers to pursue relentlessly the principles of mass production.
2. He Provides Warehouses For The Storing Of Goods: By buying and clearing the goods from the manufacturers warehouses and storing them in his own, the wholesaler makes spaces available for further production.
3. He Makes Money Available To The Manufacturers: He does this by buying goods in large quantity and paying for them promptly thereby financing production for the producer.
4. He Finds Market For The Manufactured Goods: This is because, the manufacturers specialise in the production of goods in adherence to the principles of division of labour, and may not have time to search for buyers.
5. He Completes The Manufacturing Of Some Goods: He does this by packaging and branding some goods.
6. He Stabilises The Prices Of Goods: He performs this function by storing the goods in his warehouse and releasing them according to demand.
7. He Bears The Risk Of Fail In Prices: By buying and storing goods in large quantity,
the wholesaler bears the risks of any fall in prices.
8. Keeping Manufacturers Informed: The wholesaler informs the manufacturers about the market situation from the information he gathers from retailars and consumers.
9. He Relieves The Manufacturers The Problem Of Transportation: The wholesaler does this by taking the trouble of the distribution of the goods to retailers and others that need them.
10. He Advises The Manufacturers: As an expert in business, he performs this function in his best way.
11. He Forecasts Market Trends: The wholesaler does this for the manufacturers based on his up-to-date and reliable information about the tastes and demand of members of the public.
12. He Is Involved In Advertising: Finally, sometimes the wholesaler performs this function for the manufacturers through trade exhibitions and trade fairs.
