Some of the functions are;
1. He Advises The Retailers: As an expert in business, the wholesaler performs this function to the retailers.
2. Gives Credit Facilities To The Retailers: The wholesaler does this by allowing the retailers to buy goods now and pay later.
3. He Sells Goods In Small Quantity To The Retailers: By doing this, the wholesaler saves the retailers the money they use in buying other types of goods in order to stock variety of goods in their (retailers) shops.
4. He Bears The Risk Of Fall In Prices: The wholesaler does this for the retailers by buying
and storing the goods in large quantity.
5. He Stabilizes Prices Of Goods: He does this for the retailers by storing the goods in his warehouse and releasing them according to the retailers demand.
6. He Transports The Goods To The Retailers Shops: By doing this, the wholesaler saves the retailers the cost, time and trouble of transportation.
7. Grading And Packaging Of Goods: The wholesaler performs these functions for the retailers.
8. Introduction Of New Products: Some new products are introduced to the retailers by the wholesaler who is closer to the manufacturer.
9. Offers The Retailers Variety Of Choices: The wholesaler at times performs this function to the retailers by stocking wide range of goods in his warehouse.
10. Acts As A Guarantor And Referee To The Retailers: The wholesaler performs these functions when the retailers are dealing with other businessmen.
11. He Promotes Retailers Trade: The wholesaler does this through advertisement in form of trade fairs and exhibitions.
