Obaseki Visits Ben Ayade In Cross River State
The Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on Thursday, visited his Cross River State counterpart, Prof. Ben Ayade, at the Cross River Government House, in Calabar.
The visit is coming exactly 4 days after the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Obaseki as the winner of the September 19 Edo Governorship election.
Igbere TV correspondent in Calabar reports that the Edo governor was in Cross River to express gratitude to Ayade and the people of the state for their support which made his re-election possible.
Governor Obaseki, who said he remains grateful to Gov Ayade, described his victory in the election as a unifying factor for the South-South region of Nigeria.
In his reaction, Governor Ayade congratulated Obaseki on his victory, saying with the reclaiming of Edo State by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the South South zone was now more united.
Earlier, Governor Obaseki was at the Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers and Akwa Ibom States Government House to thank Governors Ifeanyi Okowa, Douye Diri, Nyesom Wike and Udom Emmanuel for the roles they played in his electoral victory.
Obaseki was accompanied by his wife, his deputy, Philip Shuaibu, his wife, PDP National Vice Chairman (South-South), Chief Dan Orbih, Senators and Rep members from the state, top government functionaries and party chieftains among others.
Igbere TV reports that Governor Obaseki defeated Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), 12 other contestants to win the just concluded September 19 Governorship election in Edo state.
