Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled, full-time accountant to join our team. You will be responsible for creating and maintaining timely accounting and financial records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, and in compliance with statutory reporting requirements. Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, managing the organisation’s day-to-day financial tasks, data compilation, financial reporting, tax management, banking and cash management, investments, budgeting and financial forecasting, cost control, business analysis and modelling, regulatory compliance, invoicing and collections, payments and reconciliations, inventory management.

Job Description/Requirements

About the Role:

  • This is a paid, full-time role and you will report to the CEO or Accounting Lead.
  • You will work with Fallon and Ash and its sister company. The Accounting role is pivotal to tracking organisational performance and supporting the CEO in executing strategy and managing the business for success. We are a small team, so you are expected to take on a few cross-functional responsibilities to ensure that office operations run smoothly. A successful candidate will work to contribute to the overall success of the business.
  • The ideal candidate will have a firm grasp of accounting and financial practices and regulations, strong financial analysis skills and possess excellent verbal and written communications.
  • You must be trustworthy, organised, proactive, a quick learner, detail-oriented, numerate, analytical, and efficient without sacrificing accuracy, a creative problem solver and an accurate worker.
  • You must have advanced skills in office productivity tools such as the Microsoft Office Suite and experience with setting up and using accounting packages such as QuickBooks, Zoho, Sage or Xero would be a distinct advantage. 

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

  • Typical responsibilities would involve (but are not limited to):
  • Complying and staying current with all company, local, state, and federal, accounting, financial and labour regulations.
  • Abiding by all regulatory and company accounting policies and procedures.
  • Developing and implementing accounting and financial reporting policies and systems.
  • Maintaining timely and accurate customer, business and financial records
  • Processing transactions, updating ledgers, researching and resolving discrepancies etc.
  • Implementing and enforcing accounting and financial controls including inventory and fixed assets management
  • Handling payroll, pension and taxes (e.g. VAT, WHT, payroll taxes, income taxes)
  • Handling invoicing, receivables/payables, payments, collections, banking transactions and account reconciliations
  • Compiling and analysing business and financial data and monitoring financial transactions
  • Preparing timely business/financial reports – e.g. business performance reports, budgets/financial forecasts, tax reports etc.
  • Finding ways to reduce or manage costs by studying financial reports and business processes.
  • Analysing market trends, to discover business opportunities to maximise profits.
  • Treasury,  cash and cost management
  • Manage the external audits and deliver annually audited financial statements.

Required Skills, Experience and Qualification:

  • Undergraduate degree in business, economics, accounting or finance degree preferred
  • Professional accounting qualification (in view or completed)
  • Three (3) years experience in related roles which demonstrate the capacity to successfully perform the above duties  
  • Experience with Quickbooks Accounting software
  • Strong attention to detail and good analytical skills
  • Excellent knowledge of accounting regulations and procedures, including generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Understanding of accounting and financial processes
  • Advanced skills and experience with setting up and using accounting software packages e.g. Sage, Zero or similar 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Computer literacy and advanced skills in office productivity tools e.g. Microsoft Office Suite
