#EndSARS: Time to talk with Government – OPAN President, Austyn Ogannah

Nigerian online publisher, Austyn Ogannah has urged #EndSARS protesters to embrace negotiations.

Ogannah, who is the President of the Online Publishers Association of Nigeria, OPAN, while commending the #EndSARS/#EndSWAT protesters for the courage so far displayed, said it is time channels are opened to pave way for talks.

He decried the attacks on police facilities in Lagos, Benin, and the release of prisoners at the Benin Correctional Service Centre. “Though the attacks were done by hoodlums, they should not be happening because they distract us from the conversations”, he said.

“I believe it is time to sit down with the authority to figure out a strategy on the reforms we want implemented and cut a deal. The #EndSARS protest is getting out of hand, it is being distracted by hoodlums and miscreants. We should not let this happen”, he added.
