Fireboy’s “Peru” Is A Good Banger – Is He Ready For Another Album?

Fireboy is class, his music is elite, his vibe is mature and he is most certainly not a fluke.

He’s relatively new. That’s why months ago people were wondering how a guy who was up for Next Rated in 2019 swept five awards in one night at The Headies. Well, I’ll tell you how.

Consistency. That’s how Olamide managed to stay on top for ten years. The YBNL honcho, who signed Fireboy in 2018, released his first album in 2011 and followed up with a sophomore the following year.

Then, for the next six years, he made sure he released at least one album a year. Trust me, that kind of consistency, you can’t beat. It only makes sense that Fireboy’s career will mirror that of Olamide when it comes to prolificness.

Fireboy already has two albums.

The first one “Laughter, Tears & Goosebumps” was released in 2019 to critical acclaim and mindblowing commercial success. It was one of the best debuts we’ve seen in the industry. The best since, maybe, Kiss Daniel‘s “New Era.”

Not up to a year after the release of the acclaimed LTG, he put out his sophomore, “Apollo.” This was during the lockdown in 2020 and although the album received mixed reviews, Fireboy 2.0 was indeed a success.

The youngster was finally leaving the alternative style behind in pursuit of real pop stuff that can hold down the mainstream. “Apollo” was a beautiful album, but it was a transition album. Wait till you hear what’s coming.

Fireboy is transitioning.

With this switch in style, we can say Fireboy has found his sound and will now harness that in his next project. “Peru” is his first single in a while and it is what it is supposed to be, to say the least.

Peru” is a sweet tune with a confident delivery. Definitely one of Fireboy‘s best performances on a pop instrumental. There’s no doubt that what he’s bringing is fire.

Is Fireboy ready, though?

The only thing with this development is that the guy is probably not ready to release the third album. It’s too soon. If he drops the third one anytime soon, that will be three albums in just under three years. For a pop star, that’s a lot.

People are wondering what impact that will have on his career. Will he fade away too quickly? Will he be able to hold it down as Olamide did? All that remains to be seen.

What we do know, for now, is that Fireboy is definitely coming with some heat, and “Peru” is a sure banger.
