SAG: We’ll Stage Protest in Umuahia if Ikpeazu Recalls ex-CoS

By Wisdom Nwedene, Umuahia

Youths under the aegis of the Save Abia Group (SAG) have threatened to embark on protest against Governor Okezie Ikpeazu if the Abia state government recalls the recently suspended Chief of Staff, ACB Agbazuere.

The group’s position was contained in a statement made available to Igbere TV on Monday, in reaction to the trending report where the ex-COS bragged about being returned to office soon, despite calls for his arrest and prosecution for abuse of the naira, dereliction of duty and desecrating the government house.

Agbazuere was quoted to have bragged before his circle of friends at a location, following his suspension, that, “I will return [to my position] soon, no cause for alarm”, blaming unnamed “enemies” for his ordeal.

But in a statement on Monday, the Save Abia Group vowed to stage a heavy statewide protest starting from Umuahia, the Abia State capital if Governor Ikpeazu recalls his suspended CoS Agbazuere back to his former position.

Singed by Chairman of the group, Hon. David Chukwumerije, the group said Agbazuere should be sacked from office immediately and be made to face the law and prosecuted instead of suspension.

The group noted that the embattled ex-CoS lacks the repertoire to be the Chief of Staff to the Abia State Governor, threatening to embark on protest if Agbazuere is not sacked within seven days.

“It is no longer news that the Abia State Chief of Staff, Dr ACB Agbazuere has been suspended from office by the state Governor, Dr. Okezie Victor Ikpeazu,” SAG said.

“We want to categorically state that the suspension is not enough punishment for his gross misconducts.

“His action is very disdainful, disgraceful and will require time to amend because he lacks the repertoire to be in such position.

“Agbazuere should never be recalled back. And if Ikpeazu doesn’t sack him within the next seven days, we will stage a heavy protest in Umuahia to show our anger and frustration over the terrible conditions of Abia State,” the statement added.
